Recycling Scheme for Silicone Straws
Reusable silicone straws are designed to be used again and again, but when they do reach the end of their life, they need to be recycled in a specific way.
Our straws are made from high quality medical grade silicone, which means they cannot simply be placed in your household recycling bin. Instead, they require specialist recycling to be processed properly.
That is why we have introduced our own recycling scheme.
Closing the loop
We believe that creating a reusable product is only part of the solution. It is just as important to think about what happens at the end of its life.
Through our recycling scheme, used straws can be returned and turned into something new and useful, helping to reduce waste and keep materials in use for longer.
Partnering with TerraCycle
To make this possible, we have partnered with TerraCycle, a specialist recycling company that works with materials that are harder to process through standard recycling systems.
This ensures that any straws returned to us are recycled here in the UK in a responsible and effective way.
How to recycle your straws
If you have purchased from The Silicone Straw Company and would like to recycle your straws, simply send us an email with the subject “Straw Recycling”. Send all emails to [email protected]
We will reply with the address and any details you need to return your straws.
A simple approach to sustainability
Choosing reusable products is a step in the right direction, but making sure they are handled responsibly at the end of their life matters too.
This scheme is a small but important part of creating a more considered and sustainable alternative to single use plastic.
