Silicone straws are very hygienic as they can go into the dishwasher and surface is smooth with no pours so there is nowhere for bacteria to hide.
What are the disadvantages to silicone straws.

Can Silicone be recycled?
Yes, but not by simply popping it in your in home recycling bin. Silicone is a little more complex to recycle and so needs to be done so in a particular way. Each recycling iteration induces slight degradation, yielding a slightly 'lesser product'.
The Silicone Straw Company offers a specific recycling scheme for recycling straws that are no longer needed. We have partnered with TerraCycle to ensure all returned straws will be recycled and made into something useful. We have our heart set on a range of heat resistant coasters once we have enough returned products.
